Alberta Horsemen Granted License

ALBERTA – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "An extensive licensing review process culminated on October 29 with Horse Racing Alberta granting the United Horsemen of Alberta a ten-year license to operate a racetrack in the Calgary area.

"The license is valid from 2007 until 2017, with the goal to begin live racing in April 2007. A state-of-the-art racing complex that will cost approximately $70-million is expected to be completed by January 2007.

"The horseman, who outbid Stampede Park for the license, must still obtain a development permit in the municipal district of Rocky View, and be granted a gaming permit from the province, according to the Edmonton Sun…"
