Alberta Buys Up Privately-Owned Gaming Machines3 February 2004EDMONTON, Alberta – As reported by the CBC: "The province has spent more than $1 million to buy up the last 11 privately-owned gambling devices in Alberta. "The province had been allowing operators at 11 Alberta casinos to keep 70 per cent of the money from terminals that simulated horse racing for bettors, compared to the 15 per cent operators are paid on slot machines.
