Alabama trial: Country Crossing developer says he was conned by McGregor over bills

27 June 2011

ALABAMA -- The ongoing electronic bingo corruption trial heard testimony today from Country Crossing developer Ronnie Gilley that he was conned by VictoryLand owner Milton McGregor, the Montgomery Advertiser reported.

Gilley, who has already pleaded guilty, claimed McGregor and other casino owners misled him that two bills would be "paired together", the report said.

Gilley hoped for a measure that would give him the ability to reopen Country Crossing bingo pavilion and believed that McGregor and the others supported this bill, according to the Montgomery Advertiser.

Gilley was responding to evidence in a phone conversation taped by the FBI, the report noted.
