Alabama eyes expanded gambling

ALABAMA -- Two bills will be introduced this week that could see gambling expanded in the state to help state budgets.

HB471 This bill would propose an amendment to Section 65 of the Constitution of Alabama of 1901 which would
establish an Alabama Lottery to fund programs within the Alabama Medicaid Agency, to create an Alabama Lottery Corporation to implement and to regulate the operation of such lottery, and prohibit the operation of casinos in the State.

HB472 This bill would propose an amendment to Section 65 of the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, to establish an Alabama Lottery to fund scholarships, to create an Alabama Lottery Corporation to implement and to regulate the operation of such a lottery.

Both bills are sponsored by Rep. Craig Ford.
