Alabama corruption trial: Judge warns defence lawyer over Gilley comments

6 July 2011

ALABAMA -- The Judge in the electronic bingo corruption trial spoke sternly to a defence lawyer who made inference over the absence from the witness stand of Country Crossing developer Ronnie Gilley, according to a Montgomery Advertiser report.

Judge Myron Thompson warned Susan James that she had better have evidence if she makes any public suggestion over Gilley's condition, the report explained.

Gilley, who has already pleaded guilty in the case, fell ill last week with an undisclosed illness and is expected to return to the stand this afternoon, the Montgomery Advertiser said.
