Air Supply to play at Dover Downs on Aug. 1919 April 2016(PRESS RELEASE) -- Air Supply, the soft-rock duo that reached legendary status with a string of hits in the 1980s, will perform at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino on Friday, Aug. 19 at 9 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, April 19 and can be purchased online or by contacting VIP Services at (800) 711-5882. Ticket prices range from $30-$50. Air Supply first formed in 1975, when Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock met during a rehearsal session in Sydney, Australia. Soon, the duo began opening for Rod Stewart, first across Australia, followed by the United States and Canada. Air Supply's breakthrough came in 1980, when the single "Lost in Love" began topping the charts, followed quickly by "All Out of Love." Albums "Lost in Love" in 1980, "The One That You Love" in 1981, "Now and Forever" in 1982 and "The Greatest Hits" in 1983 all reached platinum status. Of their eight top-10 U.S. singles, "Lost in Love," "All Out of Love," "The One That You Love," "Sweet Dreams," and "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All," have each achieved multi-million radio plays. Live shows have also been one of Air Supply's staples. In the early 1980s, Air Supply became the first Western group to tour China and Taiwan and the duo continues to travel constantly, including recent stops in Canada, England, Ireland, Israel and the Philippines. One show in Cuba, in July 2005, attracted 175,000 people. Air Supply marked its 40th anniversary as a group in 2015. Their newer albums include "News from Nowhere," "Yours Truly," "Across the Concrete Sky," and "Mumbo Jumbo." |
