Administration Maintains Guam Governor Can Have Own Attorney in Casino Gaming Issue

GUAM -- As reported by Kuam.com: "Governor Felix Camacho has reacted to the Attorney General's appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in a lawsuit that will determine whether a special election will be held on an initiative to legalize casino gaming in the territory. The Attorney General filed an appeal this week fighting for his powers as the chief legal officer.

"Citizens for Economic Diversity and Linat'la Sin Casino believe the appeal is a waste of taxpayer money, while AG Douglas Moylan believes the appeal will save taxpayers from footing the legal bills of government officials.

"...Governor's spokesperson Tony Lamorena maintains that the island's chief executive has the authority to hire his own representation in lawsuit such as this one..."
