AC casino official rejoins agency7 February 2007ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "Casino Control Commissioner Michael C. Epps rejoined the agency Tuesday after a 64-day hiatus caused by delays in getting his nomination approved by the state Senate. "Epps, 40, a Democrat from Atlantic County, was nominated for a second five-year term Dec. 4 by Gov. Jon S. Corzine, but the Senate Judiciary Committee and full Senate did not vote to confirm him until Monday. He was sworn in Tuesday, his first day back on the job. "Delays in getting on the judiciary committee's agenda, not any political opposition or questions about Epps' nomination, slowed down the process. For a while Monday, it appeared the full Senate would not take up the nomination until Feb. 22, but Epps was given final approval hours after the committee voted. "…Epps is one of five board members on the state agency that regulates Atlantic City's $5.2 billion-per-year casino industry.." copyrighted material written for and appeared exclusively in The Press of Atlantic City |
