Abramoff Pleads Guilty in Florida Fraud Case

WASHINGTON, DC – As reported by the Houston Chronicle: "Former lobbyist Jack Abramoff pleaded guilty to his role in a Florida fraud case Wednesday, completing a deal with prosecutors that secured his cooperation in a corruption probe here that has targeted lawmakers and their staffs.

"The one-time Washington wheeler-dealer, who has been providing federal prosecutors with a road map for what could be the largest congressional corruption case in decades, admitted in U.S. District Court in Miami that he and a partner had defrauded a Florida man out of a fleet of gambling ships.

"…Abramoff, 46, pleaded guilty to wire fraud and conspiracy in the Florida case. He could face seven years in prison at a later sentencing. But under a deal with prosecutors, the time would be served simultaneously with a 9 1/2 -to-11-year sentence he received on Tuesday after pleading guilty to three felonies in Washington…"
