ABC Recovering Center to honor former tribal chairman at 18th Annual Firestone Award Gala

20 February 2016

(PRESS RELEASE) -- For 18 years, The ABC Recovery Center in Indio, Calif. has honored the brightest stars and most giving people in the Coachella Valley at the Firestone Gala Awards Gala, and we are proud to announce that this year’s recipient is Former Cabazon Band of Mission Indians Chairman and Tribal Elder Joe Benitez.

The ABC Recovery Center’s 18th Annual Firestone Award Gala will be held at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on Friday, March 4.

The Firestone Awards Gala is ABC Recovery Center's biggest annual event and this year it features an exciting art show, silent auction, and reception followed by a delicious dinner and featured entertainment by Gary Mule Deer. Gary's unique comedy and music have set him apart as a truly one-of-a-kind performer. For nearly five decades, Gary has performed on every major concert stage in the United States and has made over 350 television appearances.

The 2016 recipient of the ABC Recovery Center Leonard K. Firestone Award of Merit will be Former Cabazon Band of Mission Indians Chairman and Tribal Elder Joe Benitez, a man who has dedicated his entire life to helping others without expecting anything in return. His story will inspire Gala attendees and will demonstrate that he has powered through adversity to become a respected leader in the Coachella Valley.

Donations to the Gala will help support The Perinatal Program and other ABC Recovery programs. The ABC Recovery Center provides the best care for people who suffer from drug and alcohol addiction. Their high-quality facilities, personal treatment plans and professional staff are always there to help and to plan the best possible program to suit each individual patient.
