A Multi-player Poker Game Played 'Round the World20 February 1997CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- ARIES Online Games, pioneer and leading publisher of multiplayer online games, and Prodigy today announced the launching of ARIES' Online Casino (Go Online Casino), the first in a series of ARIES games the service plans to offer subscribers. Developed by Masque Publishing and offering card games such as Seven Card Stud, Texas Hold'em, and other poker classics, Online Casino lets you pull up a chair online and play realtime poker with other players worldwide. Players can start games with their friends or join games already in progress. Each player is given a "money" stake that they can wager according to the rules of the particular game. During a game, players chat around the table as the computer dealer manages the gameplay. When they leave the table, they can take their "winnings" with them and use them as their stake the next time they play. "It's easy to understand why Online Casino is such a popular game," said Chris Holden, CEO of Kesmai Corporation, parent of ARIES Online Games. "It offers the same excitement that you feel around a real table when you play with your friends -- all the skill, the talk, and, of course, the bluffing." "ARIES has a history of providing first-class entertainment for large communities of players," said Dan Daniel, Vice President/Kids and Games at Prodigy. "Online Casino continues that trend and will give our subscribers hours of fun playing some of the best card games of all time." ARIES Online Games is a sister company to Kesmai Studios, both subsidiaries of Kesmai Corporation. Founded in 1981, Kesmai has led the online gaming industry as a developer and publisher of online, multiplayer games. It was purchased in 1994 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of News Corporation.
