850 jobs at risk if table games repealed

2 March 2012

CHARLESTON, West Virginia -- If the Republican Party's proposed repeal of table games is to go ahead Mardi Gras Casino would close and 850 jobs would be lost, according to a Charleston Gazette report.

The Republican Party wants to put a "table games recall" referendum question on the November ballot, the report said.

The state stands to lose $40 million in revenue if the recall is approved, The Charleston Gazette reported.

Republican politicians feel the casino has not delivered on expansion plans it promised, including the building of a convention center and other amenities, the report made note.
