100 Hotel Workers Terminated20 April 2009ST KITTS -- As reported by St Kitts and Nevis Democrat: "About 100 employees of the Royal St. Kitts Marriott Beach Resort and Casino showed up for work on Thursday 16th April 2009 only to be met by an armed police presence and handed letters of termination from their employers. "The employees could not hide their shock and disbelief and many of them began to shed tears. "How can Management be so insensitive, wicked and bad?" asked one disgruntled employee. "...As the news about the workers' plight broke in the local media, the management of the St. Kitts Marriott issued a press release that stated that 100 employees were being made redundant due to the global economic impact on the tourism and the 30 percent decline in its revenue..." |
