$80 million renovation planned for Menominee casino

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin -- As reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: "An $80 million renovation of the Menominee Tribe's casino complex in Keshena starting this spring is aimed at keeping the gambling facility competitive with other tribal venues, tribal Chairwoman Lisa Waukau said Tuesday.

"The upgrade will renovate the tribe's Menominee Casino-Bingo-Hotel; expand an existing hotel; and add a new pool, restaurant and convention space.

"Waukau said the upgrade was necessary to keep up with major improvements at several other nearby northern Wisconsin tribal casinos, including the Stockbridge-Munsee tribe's Mohican North Star Casino in Bowler, the Mole Lake tribe's Casino Lodge and Conference Center in Crandon and the Forest County Potawatomi tribe's Northern Lights Casino in Carter.

"...The expansion will include 230 slot machines added to the current 800 and add about 60 or 70 permanent jobs. The casino now employs about 500 people..."
