$5,000 buy-in cash game, The Cage, kicks off today at Americas Cardroom

8 October 2014

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Get ready to hear three hours of nonstop rattling. The Cage, Americas Cardroom's groundbreaking cash game, is set to get underway today, October 8th, at 8:00pm ET. The time-based cash game with elements of an online poker tournament currently has over $100,000 worth of buy-ins and promises to be a Hold'em experience to remember.

"The prospect of playing with top-rated players and competing with $5,000 in real cash has made The Cage one of the most talked about poker cash games in history," Michael Harris, spokesperson for Americas Cardroom, stated yesterday. "We're one day away from the most intense three hours in online poker history and we can't wait to see how it all plays out."

The Cage is Americas Cardroom's groundbreaking cash game, set to get underway on October 8th. Players who register for the $5,000+$100 cash game will step into The Cage with 5,000 in starting chips, in real cash. While the direct buy-in is hefty, Americas Cardroom has a series of satellites to help players get into the cash game for as little as $1.65. Satellites continue to run leading up to today's tournament.

In The Cage, online poker players have three hours to take their 5,000-chip stack and make the right moves to stack it higher. The time-based cash game includes blinds and antes, which increase every hour. The Cage features three levels: Hour 1, with $10/$20 blinds and $2 antes; Hour 2, with $25/$50 blinds and $5 antes; and Hour 3, with $50/$100 blinds and $10 antes.

At the end of level 3, surviving players will swap their chip stack for real cash. For example, a player holding 42,000 in chips will receive exactly $42,000 in cash. The funds will be immediately credited to the player's account.

When Americas Cardroom first announced The Cage, many industry experts balked at the $5,000+$100 buy-in. However, Americas Cardroom has put together a satellite schedule to help players secure a seat for as little as $1.65.
