$2 million fine for LCS Limited from Kansspelautoriteit

17 October 2023

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Dutch Gaming Authority has fined L.C.S. Limited for offering unlicensed online gambling to players in the Netherlands on the website Sons of Slots. This is prohibited according to the Gaming Act.

In August 2022, L.C.S. Limited was charged with a penalty of 165,000 euros with the call to immediately cease and stop the illegal offer.

René Jansen, chairman of the board Ksa: “A burden under penalty is an often very effective method to stop illegal supply immediately. However, illegal providers who then go on black should not think that they have ‘bought them off’ their illegal activities: the previously committed violations can also be punished. In addition, we will continue to carry out re-checks to check whether the offer has actually been and will remain discontinued.”

The amount of the fine imposed by the Ksa has been determined on the basis of the current penalty policy of the regulator, taking into account, among other things, the turnover achieved in the Netherlands.

Offering online gambling is only allowed with a license from the Ksa. This applies to strict rules and regulations that aim to ensure that there is a safe legal offer, where players are assured of a fair game and protected against gambling addiction.
