$2 Billion Bet at Racino10 January 2006SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York -- As reported by the Saratogian: "Bettors dropped more than $2 billion at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway's video gaming machines last year, twice as much as bet in 2004, officials there said Monday. "That means people have spent more than $3 billion since the racino opened on Jan. 29, 2004. "Officials credited a full year of operations along with higher payouts and more promotions as key factors behind the 2005 increase. "...The racino has 1,324 machines, the same as it did two years ago, but there are 150 different types of games compared to 75 in 2004. "More than 90 percent of the money bet is returned in the form of winnings. The highest single payout came in September when Schenectady's Patty Galvin won $195,000 playing a progressive game on a nickel machine..." |
