$1.1 million Pai Gow Poker win lands at Thunder Valley Casino Resort

16 July 2026

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Thunder Valley Casino Resort celebrated a historic milestone yesterday afternoon when a longtime guest became the casino’s first-ever $1 million table games winner, taking home a $1,131,400 jackpot playing Face-Up Pai Gow Poker.

The jackpot made him Thunder Valley’s newest millionaire. But when asked what he planned to do with the money, his answer wasn’t what anyone expected.

“I’m going to buy a new garage door.”

Then he and his wife, who have been longtime Thunder Valley guests, headed to High Steaks Steakhouse for dinner, just as they had planned.

“We couldn’t be happier for him and his wife,” said United Auburn Indian Community Chairman John L. Williams. “They’ve been part of the Thunder Valley family for many years, which makes this milestone even more meaningful. We’re thrilled to celebrate our first $1 million table games winner, but what I’ll remember most is how humble they are. You couldn’t ask for better people to make Thunder Valley history.”

General Manager Dawn Clayton said the excitement spread quickly across the casino floor.

“Everyone was cheering for them,” Clayton said. “Moments like this are what make Thunder Valley so special. Over the years, many of our guests become part of our extended family, and seeing a longtime couple experience something this extraordinary was incredibly rewarding for all of us. The fact that their first plans were to replace a garage door and enjoy dinner together says everything you need to know about who they are.”

The jackpot marks the first $1 million winner in Thunder Valley’s table games history, another milestone in the resort’s long tradition of creating unforgettable moments for its guests.

Sometimes becoming a millionaire doesn’t change your plans. It just makes them a little easier to afford.
