Woman shot outside downtown Las Vegas casino

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- A woman who was shot today at a downtown Las Vegas casino parking lot was there to hand over her children to her former husband, Metro Police said.

The woman was shot as she sat inside a vehicle about 12:35 p.m., police said.

Her current boyfriend, citizens and security guards at the Gold Spike Hotel and Casino at 400 E. Ogden Ave., restrained the man who shot her until officers arrived, police said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital where she is in critical condition, police said.

Police have not released the suspect in the shooting or the victim. Metro Police Domestic Violence Unit has been called in to investigate, police said.

The conditions and location of the children were not revealed by police.
