At our newly formed Thursday night poker club, I was informed that I couldn't
call a bet, and then raise. I used these words; "I'll call your $20,
and raise you another $20." Someone objected and said that I couldn't

Threading through a blackjack scam19 April 2004

I have noticed a trend in some casinos where the payoffs for blackjack were
6:5 instead of the customary 3:2. It didn't seem to matter whether it was
single, double-deck or shoe; it was 6:5 for a blackjack in those places. Is

playing. Take for example "Bonus" machines, where four aces pay a

A great column last week on don't bettors. It reminds of a game I was on recently
where a guy threw the number seven about a dozen times
without the point ever being made. He touted that he had the skill of willing
the number seven. Of course, two hours later, he was broke.
But that still begs this question, do you think there is any skill involved in

I enjoy your writing and just received your blackjack strategy card, but I am not sure
how to read the Player's Hand portion. I assume the 8-16 means total value of
my two cards, and I understand the 2s etc at the bottom. But, what is the A2-A9?
Also, do I assume a hit on any total less than eight? As you can tell, I am a
