Tipping the Shooter

Dear Larry,

Great website. I have read most everything in here and have a querstion about setting the dice. Does it REALLY make a difference? I like to throw at the same speed but never have set the dice in a specific way.

Yes, Dice Setting really does make a difference. If you're going to shoot anyway, why not set the dice? I would suggest you look at some books like Frank Scoblete's Craps Underground, Zeke Feinberg's Pre-Setting The Dice, or my book, 101 Ways To Win - At Craps!

Dear Larry,

What is an appropriate way to tip a good shooter? Throw him a red chip or place a hard way bet, like you would for the dealers? How about if he's too persistant in asking for tips, like this guy in Reno last weekend?

Hi, George,

I never heard of a shooter actually asking for a tip. But if you want to tip a good shooter just get the attention of a dealer, toss him a chip, and say "$5 hard 6 for the shooter!" or something similar. And don't forget to tip the dealers too - they really can help you win more money!
