Spotlight: StatFox.com

11 June 2002

Since the inception of online gambling, companies have catered to online bookmakers by supplying them with more than just point lines. Information as obscure as a player's free throw percentage in the month of January in a specific road arena is just one example of the vast information out there and the technology available for mining it.

Segments of the betting public are willing to pay a premium to obtain as much detailed information as possible, and new company called StatFox.com is doing its part to accommodate. The concept is to enable bettors to access intense statistical breakdowns without having to expend the time and energy of obtaining it.

The Company

Launched in 2000, StatFox.com is a site developed for sports enthusiasts by sports enthusiasts. The company realized early on that there were many outlets posting game match-up information. With that in mind, the site was developed with the goal of separating it by going far beyond the commonplace statistical data and providing what it considers to be a more complete game handicapping breakdown. Everything about StatFox.com--from the content to the layout of the game match up reports--was designed with the self-handicapper's interests in mind.

The Product

The essence of StatFox.com is FoxSheets, a tool that produces up to 10 handicapping models for every game in a variety of sports. These models cover everything from the obvious to the obscure.

While other outlets encounter sports seasonality problems, StatFox has gaming information needs covered year-round. The site recently added NASCAR and Arena Football stats to its menu of professional and college football, basketball, and baseball information.

StatFox's services are available to bettors directly, but their biggest market is B2B. The company offers a module through which its products can be branded by sports books as their own research and sold to bettors as a premium service.

The Future

StatFox.com will continue to add features to its site and service. Sports that are increasing in popularity, such as soccer and additional forms of auto racing, are on the immediate horizon.

They also hope to expand their customer base with bookmakers and further strengthen their position as a leading information and statistical provider for sports books and customers alike.
