Attention High Rollers: $1000 Slots Are Here20 August 1999
It was bound to happen. Bally's Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has introduced the world's first $1,000 slot machines to its "high roller" area. The two machines are IGT's Red, White, & Blue Sevens. They are 2-coin maximum machines that offer a top award of...are you ready for this...$1 million! I checked out the pay tables of the machines and observed that if you line up mixed-colored sevens with one coin played you'll get $80,000. Two coins played will yield $160,000 for lining up mixed sevens. Double white bars on the line pay $25,000 for one coin, $50,000 for two coins. Triple blue bars pay $40,000 for one coin, $80,000 for two coins. If you play two coins and line up red, white, and blue sevens, you'll win a cool million. Unbelievable! Bally's had to have special one thousand dollar gaming tokens minted for the upper echelon "one-armed bandits". It's hard to imagine anyone walking up to a slot machine and being willing to play one thousand or two thousand dollars a spin, but the machines wouldn't be there unless the casino operators thought they'd make money.
