Double Bonus Poker: 10/7/5 vs. 9/7/5

8 April 2017
Over the last few decades, casinos have consistently chipped away at the returns for video poker. In the golden days of video poker it was very common to see video poker games that returned very close to – if not more than – 100%. Now it seems that the best games available in many casinos return less than 99%. ... (read more)

Playing 8/5 Jacks or Better

18 March 2017
An acquaintance recently asked me to comment on playing the 8/5 version of Jacks or Better. He understands that 9/6 Jacks or Better is a better game to play, but says it is sometimes hard to find such a game. For those readers who are not familiar with video poker terminology, the Jacks or Better game is one of the first video poker games ever manufactured. ... (read more)

Some video poker games earn different players club points

25 February 2017
Savvy players like Video Poker because of its low house edge. With some games the edge can actually be in the player’s favor. By including slot club bonus points, even a slightly negative game can become positive. At one time (it now seems like the distant past), when the concept of player’s club points was ... Which casino has better video poker?

4 February 2017
All casinos today have some sort of slot player’s club. By joining the club and inserting your player’s card when you play video poker, points are added to your balance. These points typically are redeemed for food, drink, merchandise, free play or cash. Players who earn enough points in a set period of time ... (read more)

Video poker pay tables may deceive you

14 January 2017
Video poker games are commonly classified by the type of game and an indication of the payback. The type of game describes the major features of the game. Some of the more common game types include Jacks or Better, Bonus Poker, Double Bonus Poker, Double-Double Bonus Poker and Deuces Wild. To further classify these games, an indication of the payback is given. ... (read more)

The next best in video poker

24 December 2016
Casinos routinely change their inventory of slot machines. Usually this is done to add exciting new games or to eliminate games that aren’t played enough. Video poker games are also routinely changed. They may be moved to different locations. Banks of one type of game may be changed to another type of game. ... (read more)

Should you use a player's card?

3 December 2016
Some of my friends and acquaintances refuse to use a casino player’s card while playing video poker. They believe that their payoff will be reduced because of the comps they receive from having the card inserted. If you happen to be someone who always uses a player’s card when playing your favorite machine, congratulations. ... (read more)

Those don't bets at craps

12 November 2016
Hi Stickman, I have a quick question – can I make a don’t pass bet after a come-out roll? ~ Jack Hi Jack, First off, rarely have I played don’t bets while at the craps table. It is just not what I want to do when playing with a table full of other players. Even without other players, I like to have enough confidence in my rolls that I will bet on them. ... (read more)

High return video poker with no slot points

22 October 2016
In recent years returns on video poker have taken a hit. It doesn’t seem that long ago casinos offered a generous variety of nearly 100% return and even over 100% return video poker games. Sadly, those days are gone. Competition and corporate greed have decimated the video poker return landscape. There are still opportunities, however, if you take the time to ferret them out. ... Is this a winning craps system?

1 October 2016
Hi Stickman, Here is a system I am unsure of. Please let me know. First, place table minimum bets on all numbers, say 15 is table minimum. Next place 6 dollars each hop 7 for a total of 18 dollars. Now roll the dice. Now put 96 dollars on come for the next roll and match the 96 with a 2 3 12 and a yo bet to obtain the 96 back in case one of those are rolled. ... (read more)
