Time to Leave the Casino?22 June 2024
I tried this in a few local casinos. Curious about what the average casino gambler felt about different aspects of casino gambling, I took the questions directly to them. I asked each of the gamblers several questions. This article covers the second question I asked them on the casino floor. The question this time was “When is it time for you to quit gambling and leave the casino?” Here are the most typical responses. Will from Tennessee: “That is not an easy question to answer. If the trip is going sh***y, I could leave after a very short time. If the trip is going great and fortune is smiling on me, I would stay for as long as the luck continues. Since I live reasonably close and drive, I do not have any artificial things (like my ride leaving) to affect when I leave. It is entirely up to me. “When my bankroll is up, I don’t have any fixed win limits. It all depends on how I feel. If I am totally relaxed and things are flowing, I stay until I feel like going. “Normally, I end up leaving after about two to four hours – closer to two hours, normally.” Linda from Missouri: “As I said in the last question, I definitely leave when I run out of my budget for the trip. That is an easy, non-negotiable event for me. It gets a little trickier if I am winning enough to keep playing for several hours. Sometimes I just get tired of playing and decide to leave when I hit a lower or upper limit of credits in the slot machine. It is usually the lower limit. “If I hit a jackpot. I tuck it away except for about 50 to 100 dollars. I play that. When it is gone, I am gone.” Bob from Arkansas: “I have simple rules for when to leave: when I run out of money, when I double my stake, or when my ride says it is time to go. Sometimes I have to wait for my ride because I run out so fast.” Carrie from Arkansas: “I know when it is time to leave when one of two things happen – my ride is leaving, or I am out of money. I sometimes try to beg some money off my ride (my husband) and if that does not work, I try to get him to leave.” Brian from Arkansas: “It is time to quit gambling and head home before I would have to hit the ATM for a second time. When that happens, you are just on a losing streak and trying to get it back. It is better to call it quits and mount an attack on the casino at another time.” Randy from Mississippi: “I figure it is time to leave the same way I define a successful trip. I leave when I lose my entire craps buy-in. Or, I leave when I double my buy-in. I have to admit, several of my trips are short – quite short, indeed.” There you have it – straight from the mouths of the men and women in the casino. What about you? When is it time for you to leave the casino? As always, may all your wins be swift and large, and your losses be slow and small.
