Part 5: What is Your Favorite Casino Game and Why?

Casinos have a wide range of games designed to attract nearly every type of gambler. Since there is such a variety, I thought it might be interesting to survey casino goers to find out their favorite games and why they play them.

This is the fifth article in a series of articles that explores this topic.

“Video poker is my game! I used to play slots. I played them because I was intimidated playing table games. It seems there are so many unwritten rules which I, without fail, break - to the groans and grumbling of the other players at the table.

“Slots quickly became boring. All I did was feed in a bill or two, press a button, and watch. Most of the time nothing happens beyond the credit meter going down.

“Video poker is very different. Each hand is different. Each hand must be studied. I must exercise my mind to decide which cards to hold and which to discard. Each decision can alter the results. I am in control of my destiny (well a little bit anyway) while playing video poker.

“Video poker playing sessions are totally different from the mind-numbing slot playing sessions. They are interesting. The play tends to go quickly. Rather than my bankroll disappearing quickly, the time does.

“Another exciting thing about playing video poker is I can determine the return of each game in the casino and choose the game with the highest return. This is totally impossible with slots.

“I find myself studying and practicing the proper playing strategies while at home. It is work. It takes time, but it is worth it to me. By learning these strategies, I am improving my return in the casino.

“I find that I tend to go home a winner more often now. If I am not a winner, I lose less than I did playing slots. Even if I lose my entire playing stake, I tend to play longer while in the casino than I ever did before.

“I love playing video poker. I cannot imagine every growing tired of it.”
