Casino Survey Part 7: Why Play What You Play?5 October 2024
This is the seventh article in a series of articles that explores this topic. Responses from a recent casino sampling. Jerry from North Dakota: “I started coming to casinos several decades ago. I have tried many different games such as slot machines, video poker, blackjack, and the carnival card games. I have not tried craps. That game just seems too complicated for my taste. “The game I settled on as my favorite is roulette. “Unlike slots, there is action. There is player participation. There is camaraderie among the players. About the only thing the slot machine has in its favor is the possibility of a huge win. “Unlike video poker, there is absolutely no strategy required to improve the results. I just need to know how and where to place the bets I want to make. “The same is true when compared to blackjack. No strategy is required. I do have to know where to place my bets, but I do not have to learn several different signs to tell the dealer what I want to do. No one at the roulette is going to chew me out for making what they call the wrong play. No one will yell at me for taking the dealer’s bust card. Roulette is more relaxing and has less stress than blackjack. “As far as carnival card games go, I have never been able to really get into them. I am not sure why. They just do not appeal to me. “Roulette gives the added advantage of a win that pays 35-to-1. That can really be exciting. Sometimes a hot streak comes along and the cash just piles up. Hard to beat that kind of a rush.” What about you? What casino games do you like to play – and why? As always, may all your wins be swift and large, and your losses be slow and small.
