Casino Survey Part 10

Casino Survey Part 10

Casinos have a wide range of games designed to attract nearly every type of gambler. Since there is such a variety, I thought it might be interesting to survey casino goers to find out their favorite games and why they play them.

This is the tenth article in a series of articles that explores this topic.

Responses from a recent casino sampling.

Sarah from California:

“When I come to a casino, I am not like so many other players I see. They run right up to a slot machine, video poker game or some table game and just go, go, go until they burn out.

I like a much more measured approach. My average stay in a casino is about four to six hours. I like to savor the time – soak up the vibe and atmosphere. Take it all in at a slower pace.

Like most new casino gamblers, I started out playing slot machines. They were simple to learn how to play (just put in the money and pull the handle or hit the button). They did not require any interaction with other people – either dealers or other gamblers. Even though many gamblers play as fast as they can, I could play them at my own pace – and I did.

I enjoyed slots for many trips, but over time I got tired of all the noise and hubbub; the ringing of bells, and the constant din.

There was also the constant threat that a smoker would sit next to me. It never seems to fail that no matter which side the smoker sits, the smoke heads my way.

I needed to find something a bit more serene and less smoky.

I played a couple of slot machines that had keno as an option. I did enjoy watching all the numbers fill the grid. I really enjoyed it when several of the numbers were the ones I picked.

The problem was I was still in an area with noisy games and smokers.

Then I realized the casino had a keno lounge.

I walked over, sat down in a chair, and watched how things played out. The area was quiet, the game was relaxed and the chairs were much more comfortable than the seats at slot machines.

Ever since that first time, the keno lounge is my go-to-place in a casino. I have found the perfect place for me.”

What about you? What casino games do you like to play – and why?

As always, may all your wins be swift and large, and your losses be slow and small.
