Antiguan Finance Minister Looks to Settle with US Trade Reps17 January 2008
Antigua and Barbuda Finance Minister Errol Cort is in Washington, D.C., today to discuss a resolution over its Internet gambling dispute with the United States. Cort, who is set to meet with U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab today, said he believes this matter can be resolved in an "amicable way." The World Trade Organization in December awarded Antigua $21 million in annual trade sanctions against the United States in the form of suspending copyrights and trademarks to the United States. Antigua has not yet exercised that option and has expressed the desire to settle on the matter instead. IGN will follow up as more details become available.
