AGCC Awards Genting Online License

Genting International's (GI) Channel Islands-based subsidiary has been awarded an online license from the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC).

Genting Stanley Alderney Ltd. (GSAL), established in November 2007, is to launch its U.K.-facing online offering during Q2 2008, GI said, following final AGCC approval of its gambling equipment and internal control systems.

GI, a subsidiary of the Genting Group, on Jan. 3 received approval from Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Ltd. to apply for the gaming license.

GI added that the receipt of the license and anticipated commencement of GSAL's business were not expected to have any material impact on its financial performance during FY 2008.

GI has not revealed what gambling services GSAL intends to offer online.
