Redevelopment planned for casino on Paradise Road

LAS VEGAS -- A local real estate developer said Tuesday he acquired majority ownership of the Mardi Gras Hotel & Casino on Paradise Road and plans to redevelop the property.

Daniel Grimm of DG Development Corp. didn't give a price for the purchase. The hotel currently has 314 hotel rooms. He plans to remodel the property into a 700-room resort with a 35,000-square-foot casino.

In a statement, Grimm said he hopes to complete the project "in concert" with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority's planned Las Vegas Global Business District Project.
