Randall Sayre named Gaming Regulator of the Year

25 November 2009

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Gaming Control Board member Randall Sayre has been named Gaming Regulator of the Year by the International Masters of Gaming Law.

Robert Stocker II, a Michigan gaming attorney who is the group's president, said Sayre, who was appointed to the control board in 2007 by Gov. Jim Gibbons, "exemplifies the best possible characteristics of a regulator."

Sayre, who spent 26 years with the control board in agent and supervisory capacities until his appointment to the three-member panel, was credited with helping to create a stable regulatory environment in Nevada.

The award, which is given annually, recognizes the individual whose work exemplifies the association's mission of advancing gaming law through education and appropriate regulatory environments.

Sayre received the award Nov. 17 at a reception in Las Vegas.

Lionel Sawyer & Collins attorney Bob Faiss, a member of the association, said Sayre has protected and assisted the gaming industry in meaningful ways.

"He seeks to restructure gaming control to make it more realistic," Faiss said.
