MGM, Prince George's County sign community benefits agreement

18 June 2014

MGM Resorts International and Prince George’s County signed a community benefits agreement on Tuesday that ensures 50 percent of the jobs slated for the $925 million MGM National Harbor will go to local residents.

The agreement also has provisions for a specific percentage contracts to be awarded to area minority-owned businesses during the construction phase of the development.

“We feel this agreement manifests our commitment to create thousands of new local jobs and provide enormous economic benefits to the people of Prince George’s County,” MGM National Harbor President Lorenzo Creighton said.

The company expects to begin construction on the 300-room hotel-casino this year with an opening in 2016.

“The goals for local hiring and contracting in this agreement are both ambitious and fair,” Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker III said in a statement.
