Kassela first double-bracelet winner of WSOP25 June 2010
Frank Kassela of Memphis, Tenn., captured the $2,500 buy-in Seven-Card Razz event early Thursday morning at the Rio, topping a 365-player field and earning $214,085. Kassela won his first gold bracelet two weeks ago in the Seven-Card Stud High-Low Split championship. According to official records, Kassela now has two wins, three final table appearances, and six in the money finishes at the World Series of Poker, giving him career earnings of $764,144. With 17 events remaining in the World Series of Poker, Kassela has a chance to tie the record of three for most wins at a single tournament. Five players share the record. "Sure, I can even beat the record," Kassela said. "That's what I am going to try to do. Why not?" When day one of the Seven Card Razz event concluded, Kassela was in last place, 105th out of 105 players, but he battled back into contention on the second day of the four-day event. "I had 5,100 in chips at the start of Day Two," Kassela said. "I got lucky. You have to get lucky, especially at Razz. I think the bets were 600-1,200 at the time, so I had like four bets left. I ended up making a hand on Seventh Street and doubled up." Copyright GamingWire. All rights reserved.
