Actually that is a very good question. But take a step back and put casinos out of your mind for a minute. Almost everything we do in life is a gamble of some kind: marriage, job choices, the results of paying attention or not paying attention in school, going into the military - even ordering a meal in a restaurant. All of these things are gambles of one degree or another.

Casino gambling is merely a refinement of such life gambles - it is a sifting of life into its purest form - gambling on this or that proposition with immediate feedback. It feels good when you win; it feels awful if you lose.

That's why you gamble.
