What should you do if the dealer tips you?2 December 2012
BROADWAY: I am a GTC tipper all the way. Every roll I have there is a tip on the line for the dealers, and if the roll gets long I increase the number of tips. The casino where I usually play has two dealers who will overlook a seven on the come-out roll and not take down my come bets with odds. They leave them up. Do you think they are tipping me? They take everyone else's come bets but not mine. Do you think I should say something or just benefit from their "kindness"? DICE PILOT: A few of us experienced this in Vegas during the classes. Most of the time it happens with inexperienced dealers or dealers not paying attention. Do not look at this as them tipping you because they could lose their jobs if it was intentional. I keep quiet and keep on playing without skipping a beat and continue to increase the tips as the game progresses. It is definitely a bonus when it happens. RODRIGO R: I keep whatever they give me! THE GRIZ: The Griz likes this! THE GODDESS: During one of the lectures, students were always told not to say anything because the dealer could be written up or lose his job. It has happened a number of times to us, but almost always by an inexperienced dealer. We have never said anything. There have also been a few occasions when I have put my pass line bet down before the dealer was finished paying out (my mistake, not wanting to forget to bet). When the dealer tried to pay me, I would always say, "This is a new bet," and the box and dealer would thank me. In this case, honesty is the best policy.
