The Fun of it All

Last week I went through some of the irritations that casino players can experience with both dealers and other casino players. Don’t frown. This week let me share with you some of the joys of playing casino games and being in casino hotels and in a casino venue.

You go to a blackjack table and the very first hand you get is a blackjack. The other players laugh and one says, “Hey, why don’t you keep that up! Go for two in a row.” And you do keep it up as your second hand is also a blackjack. That is fun! That is rare but that is truly fun. You get a blackjack about once every 20 hands. Two in a row? Wow!

You have a slot credit slip for a few dollars and you are about to go to the buffet for lunch because you must keep your weight up so that when you finally grow to six-feet eight you will be at the proper weight for that height. You put the slip in the machine and bingo! Just like that, you win the big jackpot. Yes, lunch tastes really good as you contemplate your upcoming career in the NBA.

They give you the dice at the craps table and you roll 89 numbers and then you seven-out. Everyone is clapping and cheering and jumping up and down except the one guy who insisted on betting the Darkside for the entire roll. This man is whining and groaning and moaning. No one at the table cares about him because Darkside players are usually disliked by most craps players.

You, your spouse and your friends are comped to a gourmet meal at one of the finest restaurants in the casino. It is a great meal because everyone is ahead at this particular time since they were on your 89-roll hand. Nothing is better than sharing a good meal with winning friends. Across the room is that Darkside player growling into his steak. He recognizes your crowd from the game that afternoon.

You are playing baccarat in one of the few high-roller-room baccarat games in this particular casino venue. It’s the big table where the players actually get to deal the cards. It is sad that many mini-baccarat players will never know the fun of being catered to with such attention by a pit full of dealers at the traditional baccarat game.

The traditional game is slow and you have plenty of time to enjoy your fellow players. The other players are often superstitious and supply you with a floor show, although they don’t know they are doing so.

You enjoy walking through the casino or the casino town if you are in a casino town. You can people watch and enjoy the different casino facades. At night the lights are spectacular. You go to the shows too. They are usually a fun departure from playing the games.
