Should I Play the Don't When the Table Is Cold?17 September 2004
Dear Jeff, The idea of the 5-Count is to keep you out of the action so the casino can't grind away at your bankroll. If you decide to make Don't Pass or Don't Come bets, the casino will have an approximately 1.4 percent edge on all the money you bet this way. So, yes, you are increasing your chances of losing more money. The 5-Count doesn't guarantee that you will win; it just keeps you in the game longer and if there is a hot roller, you'll have enough money to capitalize on him or her. All the best in and out of the casinos!
