Should I Leave a Craps Table After a Hot Roll?

8 October 2004

Dear Frank,

I just finished reading your book The Craps Undergound. It was enjoyable. I will be in Vegas the 1st week in August. At various times I have applied the 5 count to other players and placed the dice in the 3V position with some success. (I also read your book about the Captain). I have a couple of quick questions if I may:

If you are at a Craps table, and you have a real good roll, should you continue to stay at the table, or cash in. Usually after someone has a good roll, you see everyone coloring up and leaving, thinking the table will be going cold. Myself among them?

If you ask for the dice with the hard 6 up from the stickman, then turn the dice to what you want( say all hardways on the faces) will you get grief for taking so long? Just curious.

Enjoyed your book and hope to take the course someday. Both myself and my wife are avid craps players. Thanks for the time.

Tim

Dear Tim:

Thanks for your kind words.

If you are betting on random rollers, then you should just take the money and enjoy the win. If you have controlled shooters who are about to shoot, you should stay in the game since they are changing the game to favor you. Simply turning the dice to get the hard way set does not take longer than a second or two and will not really slow down the game. The regular "chicken feeders" who set the dice take much longer -- so set away.

I am giving you a free two-month subscription to www.thecrapsclub.com, the Golden Touch Craps private website. I think you will enjoy the information there. Your password and user name will come in a separate email.

All the best in and out of the casinos!
