Savor the Win!31 March 2020
One of the worst scenarios has probably happened to just about all casino players. You’ve been dreaming about your next trip to the temple of chance; analyzing your strategy and fantasizing about your possible win – maybe even a big win, a huge win, and when you hit the casino, the casino hits back! You lose your first bet and the next and after a short time you are in a hole so deep that you figure you won’t ever be able to dig your way out. Your desire to go to the casino is now deep in the past. You are miserable. You are depressed. You are, in fact, every other casino player who has experienced just such an event. For most players in this state, sad to say, they do not work their way out of it. Some good luck might come their way but they are still in the losing column when they leave the casino to go home. Digging yourself out of a big hole is not easy and such positive digging is not a regular occurrence and that’s for sure. So what is one to do? How do you handle such a catastrophe? First, you don’t bet any more money than you planned to bet originally. You do not want to dig a hole that is too much for your bankroll to handle. So stay within your game, even if the actual game clobbered you. The second piece of advice is just as important. Losing stinks, yes, but losing does allow us to enjoy our wins even more! The contrast gives us the full emotional meaning. Knowing pain lets us know how great not having pain can be. Knowing hunger allows us to enjoy the feeling of fullness after a good meal. It is important that when you do win when your trip to the casino is over that you savor the win. Enjoy it fully. Wallow in it. That win is wonderful. Your win doesn’t have to be large; it just has to be. I remember once leaving Atlantic City with my wife the Beautiful AP and we had won four dollars after a short stay. Four dollars! “We won four stinking dollars,” I said to my wife. “Four stinking dollars!” My wife laughed and said, “Look at all the cars leaving this city; how many people are ahead even one dollar? Savor the win!” She was right. Those bad times will happen but so will the good ones. When the good ones do, well then, savor the win! Frank’s web site is www.frankscoblete.com.
