Dear Frank,

I have been reading Wong's Blackjack Secrets (mainly the Hi-Low chapter), and I also have Professional Blackjack. I feel moderately confident that I can begin to learn the Hi-Low count as my first card counting method (right now I only know Basic Strategy). But I'm wondering if I would be better off starting with something simpler, such as the K-O Count method. I've heard it's very easy and very effective, but I know nothing about it yet. I might look into it as a beginning counting method, but I wanted to know what you think of simply focusing on the Hi-Low right from the beginning.

Also, can you tell me if the K-O Count uses a low card/high card ratio (like the Hi-Low), or is it more like the A/10 Front Count that Renzey proposes, which deals with only high cards?

Dear John:

Either the Hi-Lo or the KO would suit you just fine. There is not that much of a difference in performance between the two. So go with the one you feel most comfortable with.
