Readers Write

10 December 1999

Dear Frank,

I have read "The Captain's 5-Count Play". I have also devoted substantial time in playing the 5-count system on my computer. As of the writing of this note, I have not read "Beat the Craps Out of the Casinos: How to Play Craps and Win". Today I have ordered "Beat the Craps Out of the Casinos: How to Play Craps and Win" and will review it in detail. If any of the following questions or comments are addressed in such book, I apologize for posing a question you have already dealt with. I thought I would go ahead and send this note in as much as I am going to Biloxi soon for an extended stay.

Questions
(Employing the Classic Supersystem)

  1. If you seven out before you reach the 5-count (after reaching 4-count and posting odds on two bets), do you start over or continue with the existing 5-count?
  2. If due to the sequence of betting and numbers rolled, you have less bet(s) "on" than you should have (i.e., number is rolled after "come-don't come" bet or 7 is rolled at 3-4 count), do you extend the 5-count, with additional "come-don't come" bets, taking odds or consider a place bet to establish 3 numbers?
  3. The "don't come" bets are won due to a "7" on the come out roll: should you consider placing a "don't come" bet before next come out roll as a further "hedge" for the come bets that are now without matching don't come bets?

I would greatly appreciate your comments and would hope that the above are legitimate questions and not merely my lack of understanding or failure to read "Beat the Craps Out of the Casinos: How to Play Craps and Win".

Thank you,
Terry

Dear Terry:

Here are the answers to your questions:
  1. When someone sevens out, you start all over again with a new shooter. Also, do not put odds up until the 5-Count is completed. You can have a doey-don't up or a regular pass or come but these should not have odds until the shooter makes the 5-Count.
  2. You determine how many bets you want up. You can go up at any time after the 5-Count if you want more action.
  3. I'm a little confused as to the meaning of this question. On the come out roll you can't place a don't come bet, only a don't pass. Of course, if a seven shows and you win your don't come, you lose the come (a wash) and get back your odds. So, I'd just continue playing the normal way and not worry about hedging. As I said, I was a little confused by this question.

All the best in and out of the casinos.
