Put Bets

Hey Frank,

Great columns. I just came back from Vegas a winner at the craps tables due in part to your advice. My question is this: Is it standard for casinos in Vegas, and anywhere else for that matter, to allow players to place the point number? I was a bit perplexed when I was able to do so in one casino but wasn't in another one. Thanks.

Dear Keith:

Some casinos allow a "put" bet where you put the Pass Line or Come with odds after the number has been established. Generally these are bad bets since you only get paid even money on the flat bet part of the wager.

Now it is hard to say which casinos do and which don't offer this bet without asking the boxman or calling the craps pit in advance to your going there. Many players don't realize that you can actually be put through to the craps pit to ask your question...so do!
