Protect Yourself Part II6 December 2022
Now, most casino players will never face a potential robber but no place is totally safe from the low creatures of the human race and these creatures can be found everywhere. You can take some precautions to avoid most problems. I wrote about the elevator dilemma last week and this week I will add some more does and don’ts that you should consider when playing in the casinos. Security is the key to being secure after a big win. If you are a high roller and you’ve just hammered the casino for a stack of lovely colored chips that few players in the casino will ever see, this is for you. You prepare to go back to your comped suite. You’ll be lugging a lot of money. The hundreds are stuffed in your pockets. What a great visit so far! The bad guys (and girls) might know that you are a possible bankroll for them if they can either get you alone or nail you in some private place, like a bathroom stall or a deserted hallway or your room. If you are a sexually loose person, you might be tempted by someone to meet them in your room – a very bad, bad idea. Okay, you won a lot of money. You can always get the casino to put the stack of hundreds in the casino safe (not the safe in your room because then you have to cart the money to your room) or you can have them write a check or give you credit in the games. Different casinos have different rules. Big roller? Find out what the rules are before you win a small fortune. Ask security to escort you to your room. Make sure you are safely ensconced there and remember to tip the security person who escorted you. It would be a rare thief who wants to fight off a security guard. Even relatively low rollers might have spectacular winning sessions and my advice to them is the same. Get security to escort you to your room. Here is an old saying: “It is better to be safe than sorry.” I’d heed that saying. This advice used to be for men only because men tend to fall prey to easy women – the kind who will do it with you for money or the kind who will drug you in your room when you perceive yourself as a lover and they and their accomplices will take your loot. But in today’ world, women might fall prey to these types of crooks as well. In World War II, the saying was “Loose lips sink ships.” Well, yes, loose lips might sink you too. Enjoy the money you’ve won and don’t risk it on risky behavior. In our human world, you do have to be aware of the negative possibilities that are our there. I am not saying be terrified of everything but certainly be aware of your surroundings and the people in your surroundings. Next week: a few more tips. All the best in and out of the casinos!
