Frank:
In reference to your ideas concerning crapless craps:
"Play the crapless craps game as you would a regular game. Use the 5-Count just as you normally do. The only changes will be if you use come bets and get on those crazy crapper numbers (you'll have to decide if you want to place odds). However, if you use place bets, then continue as you have done. I know in Tunica they let you buy the 4 and 10 for $25 and $50 paying a $1 or $2 commission on wins only. I also think they allow the buying of the 5 and 9 but also take the vig out of wins only. So place betting is not a bad way to go.
"Forget all the other bets, just as you would in a normal game. When you are shooting, the pass line bet will come in with a much higher edge of about 5%. Of course, taking odds will reduce this edge quite a bit."
Frank, I've been playing craps since the 50s on street corners in Chicago and since the 70s in legal casinos in Vegas, Atlantic City, Tunica and riverboats in IL, IN, IA and MI, etc. And some of the players I've played with have died off and many just quit because of the almost constantly losing sessions. I wish I could play with your group once or just watch you all play once.
The following might be incorrect. I haven't played crapless craps since years ago. But I don't think you can play your regular game as you stated.
I think pass line and come bets have a much higher house edge than in regular craps. And when you pay the vig only after wins I think buying the 12 and 2, 11 and 3, 10 and 4 all have a lower house edge than placing the 6 and 8.
It has been years since I played crapless craps but I think you have a better chance of a big win if you don't make pass or come bets and pick some of those numbers above with the lower house edge and buy them and try parlaying them a couple times or progressing them. Skilled shooters like your group can always make one minimum pass line bet so you all get to shoot and then buy the numbers with the lower house edges.
Hope you don't mind my difference of opinion.
And good luck at the tables. I know you all have skill but a little extra luck never hurts.
Eddie
I did mention that the pass line bet is over 5% but the odds will bring that down. But you are absolutely right that the buys of the 2 and 12, the 3 and 11 come in with edges lower than the placing of the 6 and 8 -- as long as the vig is taken from wins only.
