Our craps mentors12 February 2013
I had a great friend that is gone now too. My father-in-law introduced me to craps on a family trip to Vegas at the Stardust about 20 years ago shortly after I married his daughter. He was from Gulfport, Mississippi. At the time riverboats were growing in popularity there. Until his passing 15 years ago he and I made numerous trips to the "boats" and played craps together. He loved the game and always did well. I learned the art of money management and betting strategy from him, but have only recently begun to learn the skill of dice setting and controlled shooting from you. What a difference it makes to my bankroll! Wish I'd known it sooner. I'm 59 now. I'm near Atlanta and trips to the casinos in Gulfport/Biloxi are not as exciting as once they were going with my father-in-law with a seven hour drive. However, since the Harrah's in Cherokee, North Carolina started live dealers last summer, I take day trips several times a week there. Three hours drive up, four hours of play, and three hours back. Using the skills he taught and the knowledge you have shared, I've been able to color up with nice profits from a modest buy in on most every trip. Just a big thank you for sharing your tips, your memories, and your time. May all your rolls make the point. Best regards, M. Hart Dear Mr. Hart: The late Captain was a great player and, more important, he was a great man. Everything I know about the true inner workings of gambling I learned from him. I honor his memory and give him full credit for teaching me about how to play craps and how to control my shooting. Without him I truly would have been clueless. I can understand how you miss your father-in-law but you obviously have great memories of your times together. Don’t worry about being 59. In Atlantic City during the week you’d be the child at most tables! For your great letter I am sending you a copy of my new book “Casino Conquest: How to Beat the Casinos at Their Own Games!” I hope you enjoy it. If anyone reading this would like a free copy of the book, send me a letter discussing some of your ideas or comments and if I publish your letter I will send you a book. When you send me a letter make sure you put your address in. My e-mail is fscobe@optonline.net. All the best in and out of the casinos!
