# Mini-Baccarat at Maxi-Speed

26 November 2019

There are three major differences between mini-baccarat and full-blown baccarat aside from the fact that mini-baccarat is played on a blackjack style of table or a lower mid-sized table:

1. Players do not deal the cards; the casino dealer is in charge of that
2. The size of the minimum bets can be as low as \$10 but tend to be \$25
3. The speed of mini-baccarat is fast, faster and fastest

Casino dealers are trained to swiftly move the games along. The faster a game is played the better for the casinos as more decisions bring the real results of the game into the realm of math; probability works itself out more precisely over extended periods of time. In short, the more decisions in baccarat, the better it is for the casino.

And mini-baccarat does not disappoint! The number of hands that can be played in an hour often range from 120 to almost 200! You’ll never find anything close to that number of decisions in the full-blown game.

If we postulate that a full-blown baccarat player betting \$100 per decision on the Bank or Player with no bets on Ties, plays 40 hands per hour, his expectation is as follows: He actually plays only 36 hands since 10 percent of the hands will be Ties where no money is won or lost on the Bank or Player bets. If he does make a combination of these two bets we can postulate that he is playing against an approximately 1.25 percent house edge.

• He bets a total of \$3,600
• Betting a combination of both Bank and Player, he has an expected loss of \$45 per hour.
• If he only bets Player, his expected loss is about \$49 per hour.
• If he only bets Bank, his expected loss is \$42 per hour.

Now, look at a mini-baccarat player. If we say he plays 160 hands per hour, never betting on Ties, he will face 144 decisions.

• If our player bets \$25 per decision, he will place \$3600 into action
• Betting the combination of Bank and Player, his expected loss is \$45
• If the mini-baccarat player only bets Player, his expected loss is about \$49 per hour.
• If he only bets Bank, his expected loss is about \$42 per hour.

Imagine thinking of yourself as a \$25 bettor and being frightened of the \$100 minimums in the high-roller room version of baccarat when over time, your expected results will be the same or similar.

Now what you will discover is the complete or partial elimination of the big baccarat tables or the reducing of their action to weekends only. Instead you’ll discover that the lower, mid-sized tables will be opened for business composed of one dealer dealing as fast as he or she can. Those \$100+ players take a shellacking at those games!

In the short run, a \$100 player will have a bigger variance in his wins and losses. If you are a \$25 player who decides to jump to \$100 in the full-blown baccarat game, you will find that the swings in your bankroll will be greater in the short run. If a \$25 mini-baccarat player plays a dozen hands a minute, he gets into the long run four times faster than a \$100 baccarat player only playing 7 hands per minute. The more decisions, the more the game starts to resemble its mathematical underpinnings so mini-baccarat will reach the long run in a shorter period of time.

As you can see mini-baccarat can bring the losses to you far faster than can the big baccarat high roller room game. You should therefore attempt to reduce the number of decisions you face when playing the mini-version. Just sitting out every other hand would do the trick.

All the best in and out of the casinos!
