How can I practice shooting in craps?16 May 2010
Dear Mary: Sharp-edged dice are the casino dice. Rounded edges are for board games and the like. So you have the right dice. You can buy a practice box from Golden Touch Craps [http://www.goldentouchcraps.com/rigs.shtml] or you can make one yourself. Don't ask me how because if it isn't held together with duct tape and can be cut with a steak knife I am at a loss. On our private members-only site, some people have made their own and they might be able to help you. Stick left #1 (SL1) or Stick right #1 (SR1) are right next to the stickman — you could hold his hand. SL2 and SR2 are next over. You'd have to reach to hold his hand. These are the preferred positions. If you are right-handed, then the best position for you is SL1 — meaning you'd hold his hand with your right hand and your shot would be a relaxed pendulum swing. In a pinch you can go to SL2. Shooting from the end of the table can be done by some elite shooters — and I do mean elite — but it is not recommended for you or any novice shooter. Online games are strictly random and you can't get an edge over them so I would drop them from my thinking if you wish to be an advantage player. All the best in and out of the casinos!
