Dice control conversations and smart betting

10 September 2013

FROM DAN: I'm a novice craps player from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I just finished reading your book "Cutting Edge Craps: Advanced Strategies for Serious Players!", and I am about to begin reading "Casino Craps: Shoot to Win!" I've been practicing dice control for a couple months now, with increasing skill. I'd like to thank you, but I also have a question that I hope you might be able to help me with.

As a resident of the coast, I visit many casinos in the area. During one of my recent visits, I was at a table with a group of guys who seemed to be using dice control. One fella reminded me of the Captain. It occurred to me that I'd like to ask them for pointers, as I have no friends who also share this interest. However, I didn't want to ask them if they were in fact using dice control, since it seemed the type of question that would likely anger or offend them. I'm sure it would be bad manners to ask while inside a casino, at the least.

This leads me to my question. How can I find other people who use these techniques, with whom I could share tips and tricks? I'm not a people person by any means, so my social circle is small. Are there any online groups you could recommend? I'd like to possibly find someone to practice with, so that if I happen to be doing something wrong, I can correct it before it becomes ingrained and detrimental to my technique. Any advice or suggestions you may have for me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope to hear back from you.

FRANK’S RESPONSE: You did the right thing by staying quiet with the fellows you thought were dice controllers. Most of them probably don’t want to discuss this in a casino.

I am sending an e-mail with your e-mail address to my former partner who can put you on a private website for dice controllers.

I am also sending you a free copy of my new book “The Virgin Kiss” for your letter.

FROM MARK: I have been going to the casinos in Bossier City playing craps. I have been using the Captain's 5-Count Strategy, betting on the Pass Line, and Placing the 6 and 8.

My net result over the course of eight or nine craps sessions is to cover my expenses and return home with close to $400. With craps being a negative expectation game, will the house odds catch up to me over the course of three or more visits ?

I consume no alcohol while playing, and try and limit each session to no more than 2 hours.

Can you offer me any ideas or insight?

FRANK’S RESPONSE: Your style of play is strong and you could pull out a win on those next few visits. But you are still in a game where no matter what system you use, the casino will have an edge over you – even using the 5-Count and betting the smarter bets which you are doing.

If you learn dice control then things can be turned around and you’d have a slight edge over the house if you bet on yourself as you are now betting and only make one bet on the other shooters who are probably just random rollers.

I am sending you a free copy of my new book “The Virgin Kiss” for your letter.
