Dice control and bouncy craps tables

29 May 2010

Dear Frank:

I have seen the DVD (Beat Craps by Controlling the Dice!) of you and Dom throwing the dice. The table that you are using can't be the same as the tables I've used on these Louisiana riverboat casinos. If all the casinos I go to (mostly in Biloxi and Gulfport, Mississippi) have a surface like those, I don't think I'll ever have any control over my throw on those bouncy surfaces.

I have a practice receiving station I bought on the Internet. It has simply a 3/4" plywood base with green felt over it. It reacts like the one I've seen your team throw on. I read in the book The Golden Touch Dice Control Revolution! by you and Dominator to throw with less upward angle and a little farther from the back wall, but is that all you can do against these bouncy tables?

If they're all like that I think I'm wasting my time trying to get some dice control going. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Dan W.

Dear Dan:

The bouncy tables are beatable but you must create a different throw than the traditional 45-degree angle that we use on the standard tables. You have to throw extremely soft — as if you are trying to miss the back wall. You won't miss it because of the bounce but that has to be your mind set, otherwise the throw will be too hard. Think of the throw as a slow version of skimming a stone over the surface of water. Keep the height low. Do everything in slow motion.

In my new advanced book Cutting Edge Craps: Advanced Strategies for Serious Players!, which will be out in fall 2010, I go through all the types of bouncy surfaces and how to handle them with precision. This book is published by Triumph Books, a division of Random House.

I am giving you a free 30-day subscription to my private member's only website at www.goldentouchcraps.com. We have over 5,000 members on this site and I think you will enjoy it.

All the best in and out of the casinos!
